About Minji and Our Editorial Approach

Minji in Seoul is an independent K-beauty publication built around Minji, a fictional character. The site covers Korean skincare, makeup and beauty devices for readers comparing products online. Minji gives the guides and illustrated stories a familiar voice. She is not a real person reporting her own skin results.

What you can use this site for

A useful guide should help you decide whether a product belongs in your routine before you buy it. That means checking the exact product version, identifying relevant ingredients, explaining alternatives and pointing out reasons to skip a purchase. A long routine or a trending ingredient is not a reason to buy more skincare.

We focus on the questions a listing can leave unanswered: Is this the essence or the cream? Has the formula changed? Does a claim come from the manufacturer, or from a documented test? Is the Korean version the same one sold in your country?

How our guides are prepared

  • Product facts: revised guides link to official product pages for ingredient lists, directions and version information. The label on your own package takes priority when formulas differ.
  • Analysis: our comparisons explain what the available information does and does not establish. Ingredient lists cannot prove how a product will feel on your skin or whether it will cause a reaction.
  • Experience claims: we do not have documented hands-on testing to substantiate the site's older first-person product stories. Those scenes should not be read as real wear tests, clinical evidence or verified before-and-after results.
  • Illustrations: character scenes and comics are storytelling. They are not photographs documenting use of a product.
  • AI assistance: AI tools help create drafts and illustrations. AI-generated descriptions are not evidence of product performance. Sources, limitations and corrections matter more than a confident tone.
  • Health questions: this site does not provide dermatological diagnosis or treatment. Relevant skin-care advice is linked to qualified medical organizations; persistent or painful skin problems belong with a clinician.

Corrections to older articles

Earlier versions of this site described Minji as a Seoul resident who personally tested every product. That was an inaccurate description of a fictional character and the site's production process. We have corrected this page and added context to articles while their individual claims are reviewed.

Older articles may still contain unsupported personal stories or product claims. Use the cited sources and current product label to check facts; do not treat an illustrated story, a star rating or a stated testing period as evidence on its own. Substantive revisions carry an update date and a note describing the correction.

Affiliate links and buying decisions
